the castrol is also a good oil, think the castrol is mineral and the fuchs is synthetic
I loved my H&Rs, I think DanR is married to ASTs, im sure the great! But give me a set oh ohlins anyday LOL

My 106 GTi did the same and it was blocked oil wells..which made the head HOT and over time cracked in various places!
Couldn't really see them to the eye, but took it to a machine shop and they found loads of cracks etc
get a socket thats about 0.5mm too small to fit over the nut (make sure it has a 1/2" drive)
stick a 1/2" ext bar in it, then using a "phat" hammer, knock the socket over the bolt as far as it will go...
you a wrench to remove..
failing that - go to machine mart/halfords and buy a "locking...
Just thinking... you could try see if the timing was way out without using the tools..
Just use a E14 socket on the crank plug, roll it round to TDC (make sure you dont line up a balancing hole) slot a 7mm drill bit into the hole (I think its 7mm)
Then remove the cam end oil plugs, see if...
