There's a lot that is wrong with all the above, for starters you have the manifolds the wrong way round character wise & RS inlets are present on nearly all 182's and some 172's, especially the later models.

Vibration through the pedal and the steering wheel?
Disc can warp if the hub has not been cleaned properly or if the pads are not centering correctly in the front carriers, especially under heavy use. I would expect the vibration to stay mind, not come and go.
How have the Ferodo pads been...

For the money, especially if you intend to tinker with it, you can't beat a ph1, almost always provide more power than the ph2's for a variety of boring reasons too.
Although you said your not interested in power - a cheeky...
John mentioned the leisure centre near staines, I've played there before outside in a rough as f@ck game! It was ok though, I bought the gun-show ;)
The pitch was excellent though, big high fences to keep the pikies out!
Grey is upper manifold (consisting of upper runners and plenum chamber), lower is the silver part which retains the fuel rail, and the connects to the head.
