What you said then is pretty much what I said, with subsets it does need to be a nice sunset to get a decent photo of it, the obviously the photographer needs to be able to capture it well, so it's dependent on both. But it helps to have a nice subject in the first place :)

Well yes, but similarly you can be the best photographer in the world, but if the sunset is naff then you aren’t going to get the best sunset photo. So as long as you can capture it well then it comes down to how nice the actual sky is :)

Just shoot in whatever style you want, Matt. Photography is subjective after all. I tend to find some people’s style on Talk Photography and suchlike a bit ‘safe’ and conservative, if the image has any distortion or sun flare, or anything relatively edgy they say it’s terrible. As for Facebook...

To be honest, good sunset photos just come down to how good the sunset is, then obviously you need to capture it how you want to capture it.

Good work, Adrian. They’re a very commercial style of photo which I guess suits the purpose of them. We’ll have to sort another photo meet with Eddie. now that the weather is on the up and not freezing like last time.

It’s basically a more premium Flickr. Flickr has been inundated with crap snapshots from phones and suchlike, so 500px is more dedicated to quality photography. The work on there is amazing.

Get a Nikon AF-S 35mm F1.8G, fantastic lens for the money, I had one on my Nikon crop body a good while ago. You can pick them up for £100 second hand or around £130-150 new.

I’ve just bought a 580EX off Talk Photography tonight; excellent condition, boxed w/pouch, foot etc for £150. Not bad. 430EX prices are around the £95 mark on TP, I thought that was fairly reasonable really.

Depends which one you’re looking at, the Sigma like is used in these is circa £500-600, whereas the Canon 35mm F1.4L is nearly double the price of the Sigma in some places. Neither are cheap though lol.

Yep, I do it regularly for something to do. You can get some good results. I would, but I have this itching for something with a faster aperture and a red ring on it ;)
