The 21k one that I sold for £X 4,sold just 4 months later on 24k in one day when it was listed at £ 2900- that was towards the end of last year-

The best PH 1 I bought was last winter ( 2010/11)-

I purchased a 197 yesterday that had a brand new Renault TL4 gearbox the week before-

Yes the cars that arent selling are over priced- People are getting smarter & smarter with their money & a low specced 197 on say an 56/07 plate listed high 6's low 7's is going no where for a long time

I spoke to the owner of this car a while back....--
She sounded like a posh ball breaker...... I dare not offer a trade price on the car for fear of her driving around the m25 & castrating me-
Was an honest high miler- a bit out of my spec though-

I think, perhaps on reflection we assess our own charactor in this scenario & if such a thing should happen to us, we would be well placed to defend our position in terms of not paying any money,
From ready the OP's posts its obvious that his priorities are with family members & the distress...

Go on Pistonheads or Pepipoo ( IIRC) plenty of people on there to advise you- although they will know what to say & what not to say
