My car did this, the drains were blocked, so it was just flowing up and into the car, i also found that the seal around the fan was crap so i re-sealed it, dry as a bone since.
No more mould smell :D
Well that was soaking them, im sure with a soft cloth and applying it carefully it will be ok, perhaps start off watered down. Just be weary of it tbh. and make sure you dont get any on you, it burns...
You dont need compressors on the back. Just jack it up, put the stands on the sills. Undo the bolts so the wheels drop to the ground. the springs will fall out. If they dont, whip the wheels off so they can drop further down.
