Exactly what i've done. All you need to do to get the cover off the airbag is drill the rivets.
Have just whacked a lump of foam underneath the cover so it pushes the cover back up..
Either box has eaten itself, or clutch/clutch release bearing problem. If the latter, it'll be evident when you slide the box off...
Re: removal, yep, drop subframe down on passenger side and slide the box out through the wheel arch. Pinch bolt is an awkward fucker, but do-able. Needs a second...
Yep, shouldn't be many issues with a regular garage.
I would use a specialist though, just because they'll know what they're doing so the labour time will be quicker.
~£450 inc parts is fair for the job.
If it's failed completely it's simple to diagnose. Unplug them on by one with the engine running. If the miss gets worse then it's not that one that's the problem. If it stays the same. It's goosed.
Lol, with mine, i'm never going to do the cambelt (until they start rising in value).
If it s***s itself, i'll get a spare engine stuck in for £250 and fit it one weekend.
Aux belt is a simple enough job.
No need for that to go to a specialist.
Definitely buy a whole new kit though. Something's not right, sounds like the tensioner might be seized?
Yep. @Sir_Dave and i used it on his old track car years ago. Set to -2.5' or whatever it was. Hunter checked a few weeks later and was impressed with the results!
