I'm sorry but that's b****cks! You don't get what you pay for. Sometimes when you put the rresistor in it doesn't make contact enough as the legs are about 0.1mm smaller then the plug. To make sure they are making good connection you can snip a bit of the resistor leg and stuff it in after...

The PS3 automatically turns itself off anyway (or reboots)...I was expecting the reboot to sort it. Anyway I turned it on last night and it was there. Didnt try it though.
