its best to have but not essential. If you have SP2 on disk or are able to download it then go for, you wont loose anything.

ive had / worked on xp systems without sp2 that have worked 100% fine. if its going to be used just for a wp and things with no internet why bother.

try going to start, prog files, acessories. then i think its called system retore under xp. click restore to a previous point or sommet and have a look on the day you did the uninstalling on the calender and see if there is anything labelled for audio.
