i do believe its the breather pipe , not for the brakes though , summert i recall for the oil breather pipe ,

anyway the exhaust would make better sounds and be more freeflowing . replace the cat with either a decat or sports cat would probably give you even more performance , possible gains of 10bhp with some full decatted systems ;) .... u need to do research though before deciding which is the best...
