actually thinking about it when i use to work on xp machines with a none ms firewall, think it was zone alarm at the time the IP address/gateway needed to be put in the safe zone/trusted zone.
yeah vista is wierd though. took me ages to get vista and a mac to communicate lol.
what actually happens when you try to take files from the xp machine.
also as i havnt used xp for a while is there a setting like on vista where you need a password to get into the system

You can connect two computers directly by plugging a "crossover" network cable between their ethernet ports. Alternatively, you could connect both with "straight-wired" network cables to your ethernet hub, but there is no merit in using a hub unless you want to network three or more computers...
Yeah I can understand what your saying but the guys over on the OCC forum have like overclocked a Q6600 to over 4GHz lol and still only use DDR2, now you aint going to be much quicker than that lol
