Like I said earlier not all PSU's are the same.
A generic 300w PSU will "in the real" world produce a measily 180w'ish while drawing 400w+ from the mains (efficiency) and the power it distributes across the various rails will fluctuate wildly (PFC efficiency)
You don't have to spend a fortune...
PSU's died.. If you want it to happen again buy a cheap £12 PSU or if you care about your PC buy a decent brand - Seasonic, Antec, Enermax.
Would you stick £20 remoulds on your new car?
Bear in mind there's a huge difference in 2 things being able to "see" each other and "interacting" with each other.
The only reason why the connection is failing is because something is blocking that connection. You say you have your firewall turned off, have you ensured Windows firewall is...
Ok... Not sure why you mentioned a hardware firewall then but nevermind..
Without knowing more details then it could be one of many problems. If you haven't been succesful connecting to numerous PC's Roy then it does look like there's a problem your end.
Unless you've used VNC (Real and Ultra are probably the best clients to use) before I'd persist with MSN. If Seb's using a router which I presume he is (you mentioned hardware firewall) he needs to forward the relavant TCP/UDP ports (6891-6900 from memory). Once this is done correctly you will...
Where software firewalls use "stealth" mode and will not respond to ping requests Hardware firewalls do.
Just because you are able to ping his machine does not rule out the firewall/NAT causing the problem.
Just to conclude on this matter I've copied 25GIG of data (.vobs, .wmv's, DIVX and XVID) to my desktop and as I said all along it's not affected the memory/pagefile in any way whatsoever as you can see -
Mate you can copy 10 * 4gb DVD vob files onto your Desktop and your memory usage/pagefile will not budge an inch let alone 40gb.
Your desktop is simply a folder/directory within C:/Windows recreated virtually as an easy to use background. The files stored within the desktop folder/directory are...
He's trying to use the headphone socket on the PC CASE (some cases have Mic, Headphone and Line out on the front of them) rather than the standard 3.5mm jacks on the card itself.
Edit - Just double checked to make sure but I don't think it's possible with the Soundblaster live. The front 3.5mm...
The difference in response times is down to the way the company measure the change of the colour spectrum
The correct method is "Grey to Grey". The referance to "Grey" being because TFT's cannot actually produce a technical Black, it's really an extremely dark Grey.
Some "cheaper/dishonest"...
The average 16 colour icon takes up a few bytes (not even 1kb). If you could physically fit 1000 icons on your desktop it wouldn't even equate to 1mb....
I'd take the time to look at as many reviews on dedicated photo printers as you can.
Obviously they are specific to the one job and cannot therefor be used for multiple uses. Taking the initial cost asside the paper and the ink can be quite expensive and they are not particularly quick either...
A differance of 6ms hardly constitutes the Panny being a "slow" panel. Afterall 14ms is an extremely good response time. Alot of large LCD's are 25ms and anything below 16ms is considered excellent.
If you've viewed various screens CORRECTLY calibrated you will not see any differance between a...
Not true at all mate. Having shortcuts, documents, files or folders on your desktop does not affect your pagefile in the slightest... Nothing stored on your desktop gets loaded into the pagefile. If someones told you that they are extremely ill-informed on how an operating system works.
Only...
Most router us an IP address to enter the setup menu. If you know your's enter it into the address bar in IE or FIrefox.
Somewhere in the settings (every router is different) there will be an option for DNS Servers. The following is an example on my router -
Mine is currently set to dynamic...
If you can access any site in the world except cliosport.net then clearly the fault is with the site. If Cliosport is one of a number of sites that time out or the "page not found" appears it sounds like incorrect and/or missing DNS server IP's.
I mentioned second hand as if a router is used...
Native resolution - 1280 * 1024 is average for a 17" - 19" LCD, if you have a large budget 1600 * 1200 is ideal.
Response Time - Sub 16ms (GREY to GREY) if you plan on using the screen to display fast moving images.
