well thats the whole point of a MAC code. it leaves the ASDL marker active on the line so the new ISP (sky) can take it over. they are telling you a load of shite matey. get back onto them asking them why you need to cancel with the isp.

NTL is cable broadband, it doesnt use a BT phone line. so you can get one for around £30. basically u use your exisitng NTL modem and then plug that into your wifi router.
If you use ADSL (BT line) broadband then you will need to check the modem that bt supply you with, it needs an ethernet...

basically providers other than bt putting there equipment in the exchange.
you need a bt line as always and yes you need to pay line rental on it. but most bb providers include wlr in the price of the bb service.
