Thats the beauty of them imo. Much like a decent 3 series, very refined and boring. But when you push them, very entertaining.

Didn't dubai182 send his back due to persistent issues? From day 1 there seem to have been various issues. Certainly doesn't seem to have the over engineered integrity of ze Germans!

Most 172's at that price (ph1 or ph2) will need regular money spending imo. Suspension components, bearings, etc all crop up. Just put the £1800 towards running the Vee and use that.
