Right the interior and maplights are 501 series and the boot lights are Festoon Type.

Mine occasionally doesn't start first time around, though never had the "over revving" that you have said about. Believe it to be some kind of fuel/ecu related fault though im no expert.

If its a communal system, like in a flat or something, then it could be the LNB on the dish or whatever is attached between the LNB and yourself.
Most likely some kind of splitter to split the signal.
