yeah mac is the way forward. vmware is a must though, you will miss some windows programs and you can just run them as if they were native in mac. its ACE!

and if you want to use windows occasionally get hold of VMware and a copy of windows. either that or bootcamp.

what CAD software are you using? also never buy extra ram from apple. its a con...well actually do because if you buy your own ram and install it yourself it voids your warrenty. wait till its out of warrenty.
