Your main beam does that with halogen bulbs anyway, the reason you don't fit HIDs to the main beam is because the lights take a few seconds to come to full brightness, and flashing them cooks the ballasts. Other than that, everything in that post is spot on.

That's weird. I've been using it solidly for 3 years now, and not once has it sent me the wrong way. Even on big trips to Scotland etc it's been 100% reliable.

Those tabs at the front end of the cage - the stereo slides out of it (but may have security clips holding it in the cage, you should have tools for that), and the tabs need to be bent outwards to hold the cage in place.
