Doesn't sound good. First thing to check is gearbox oil level and dogbone mount for excess wear. If both of those are ok, new synchros/box needed

Leave the engine in the bay. Support it with a jack and wood while the box comes out of the passenger side wheel arch. Easy. Ish.
