Hi folks, can anyone tell me the width across the door mirrors (the cars widest point) I've google'd up etc & got, 1764mm across (no mention of mirrors though)

It's worth telling your insurance company if you making it look like a 172/182, some charge more, some don't. You need to inform though.

You were expectying to get a mint mk2 172 for 3k ??:eek: I'd be expecting a bit of a dog or a high mileage one for that tbh. - I see that yours is high mileage, hence why it was cheap. I assume it's had it's belts done ?? both cambelt & aux belt ?? Fair play though. Hope you enjoy it :)

I was considering it before I got my car, I looked into it & found that it wasn't a straight froward job so I didn't do it. Tbh though the mk2 ph1 interior isn't that bad.
