Yeah, the (minimum) 11mm margin has to be on both sides and top & bottom of the lettering.
Your lettering alone needs to be 79mm in height so our "recess plates" aren't legal as they are only 84mm high.
Find someone who has a pit or a lift in a well-ventilated area (ie preferably not indoors) and work away.
Done all of my cars with it once a year - jobs a good'un :)

Your second pic is good too, I like the way it goes out of focus towards the back of the car (hope that makes sense or I may just be seeing things)
Just changed my plates today too - what a b*ll*x!!
Took ages to get those double sided things off, thankfuly I had bought heavy duty velcro pads for the new plates :)
WD40, warm soapy water & sponge to remove it all and some white spirit to clean the surface before applying the new pads.
I had a bad scuff on the front bumper "blown-in" when I got my Cup spoiler painted - awesome job :)
I need my rear arches & drivers door touched up now - dam previous owners! :dapprove:
