Very common problem, that and the steering wheel melting. Ebay or an aftermarket one is best if your wanting to replace it.

After having a look at edde's guide was aiming for Renaults "A" service, which is basically filters, oils, brakes amongst others and a "B" service just for peace of mind as well.

I wouldn't buy one either, cheaper to buy, but cheaper then to sell on. Plus a CAT D doesn't need a VIC check so the repair might not be upto the highest level.

Think the unit can just be unclipped from the back. Don't quote me on that though.

CAT D means it's been crashed and repaired. The damage to car for it to be done could be very minimal depending on where it was hit etc. Best bet would be to try and get pictures of the damage or a statement of what was fixed.
