I was thinking it would cost less than that, my main concern is letting the idiots of sh*t fit near my car as I don't trust them.
Yellow Pages job I think.
How on earth someone can dismiss a car without actually driving it is totally beyond me :S
I hate new shape mini coopers, but to see if they were like I thought, I drove two of them (one was a mcs too)
I used to think that large tdi cars were pap, until I was given a passat tdi hire car...
Yep, I got 35mpg on my way to a MK meet last year. I filled it up to the brim, reset the computer before leaving the petrol station & got that mpg  The journey involved motorway driving at a steady speed (in sixth gear) plus a bit stuck in some roadworks. I was amazed tbh.

gaz - go & drive a vee, then comment. "Don't rate it but never have driven one" you sound like half the forum who comment but have never driven one tbh.

Get the paint from halfrauds, or get your local piant place to make it up for you (paint shop would be a better bet tbh)
It may be worth just 'touching up' the chips unless your plannig a respray job on your bonnet etc.
Standard rare phase 1 lights (the plain red ones) can be had really cheaply.
Other than that go for a set of ph2 ones (which imo look a lot better)
The black bit you mention is called a bulb holder. Try ebay for the lights or a scrappy, or put a wanted ad on here.
