If your only going to use it at weekends it won't sting you as much as you think it might. I use mine mainly on weekends & sometimes after work.
Petrol is one of the main expenses with one, you can get high 20's to the gallon though.

Haz, personally I think you should save up & buy the ctr if it's what you really want. I would forget about modding the 1.2 & leave it as it is. I'd stop spunking money out on whatever mods seem a good idea at he time.

GSE - you'll have to get all of the bits re sprayed as no 172 came in gold.
I really wouldn't try to make a 172 replica, to me it's a complete waste of cash.
Personally i'd save up (put a bit away each week etc) till I had the money to be able to do some nice mods - like Kris has just said.
I'd go with subtle bits that you can remove from it when you come to sell up...
172boost - I bet after you drive it you'll want one:) Take it for a spin up your local high street & watch every one look at it open mouthed, some may even take pics of it (I still get that) They're such an asw car ;)
Tbh there is no reason why a cup should cost more than an identical ff 172, the cup cost about 3k less new anyway.
If anything the prices of cups are about the same, or in some cases less than the ff 172.
