The cars running black side strips etc
Bonnet has been smoothed by someone previously obv, so to 're add' the diamond would mean a lot of work
Im goin to refund the wheels, so ill do the caps then
In fact, colour for the wheels - wat do people reckon? Stay black, gloss or matte, back to silver, or something different?
Just a guy all the mechanic lads in the area use for their sale cars or cheap jobs etc, but he's recently moved to a better premises, and his work has improved from 'ok but cheap' to 'really quite good, and still cheap!'
There a few imperfections, don't get my wrong - I had to do the arch...
Not washed it since I got in I'm January, but only been on the rd for the last week
Still had all the dust etc from the body shop etc, so was desperate for it
Bought some Autoglym HD Wax so snow foamed it, washed with AG shampoo, applied AG Super Resin Polish the the HD wax

This is quite big in the Audi world, to turn them into Black Editions ie. removing all chrome
Just peels off, it 'cuts' at gaps and sharp edges, so no need to mask
Ive a full tin of matte black in the garage
Maybe, havent decided as put a few quid into it
No bjs involved, just does trade trade rates!
That also included refitting the osf wing and aligning it etc :)
So, the Sunnies been in the body shop for 2.5 weeks, and today I picked it up
My A1 went back today, and I'm gonna be driving this til i get my new A3 in Sept
It passed it MOT last month, with no advisories, and today I taxed it and insured it, so it's the first time I could really drive it...

Re: Making The Sun Shine Again - PH1 Sunflower *UPDATED 17/3*
Sooo need to make progress on this as time is ticking - it's a week on Monday that it goes into the body shop, and I need to MOT it before then, sooooo....
As I mentioned in another thread, I did the belts, but then it wouldn't run...
Okay so today I got hold of the tools, 'borrowed' from Renault
I asked for them all, but the tech said they never loosen the cams and so didnt have the pulley locking tool - arrrrgh!!
I borrowed the horseshoe anyway as been told they're the strongest ones
The last time I had It running it was...
Actually scrap that last post!
Wasnt happy with how far the timing was out, thought surely it wouldn't run...
So just been and rechecked, and I did have the crank locked in the right place, the horseshoe has bent and the exhaust cam is a tooth out!
Whos gonna be the first to say 'I told you...
Think I've sussed it
As mentioned on this thread I think, there's more that one place the crank locking tool will located....
Yep, somehow I had it just before it should be, checked cam timing and its miles out
Taken plugs out, and ill try and bore scope it tomorrow to see if there's any...
So i went with the eBay special, people are giving them good reviews so why nlt
I understand it needs setting up, is there a correct way to do this lr just poke with a screwdriver to adjust the plunger?!
Started car but its revving at about 3k so theres obv some setting up to do!
Ok cool
yea crank was fully locked in the 'proper' hole, and once engine was turned a few times I rechecked and the cam tool was really snug, as suggested in other threads
Im pretty convinced its a TB issue, I've taken it off to strip and clean tomorrow - fingers crossed
Ok so the pulleys are timed too?
Im lost, I locked the cams and the crank, slackened the pulleys, old belt off, new belt on, tensioned, torqued the pulleys and crank
Do the ex and inlet pulleys have timing mark, even though they're free floating and the cams are locked?
Horseshoe is a genuine one, so quite thick and definately not bent
Was still tight getting it into the grooves once the engine was turned, suggesting the ends of the cams aren't damaged
Did this, which makes me think its not a timing issue - it will idle and I always thought a tooth out and...
