    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Thanks mate. Yeah really looking forward to it! Gonna get the tow strap fitted now and secure the electrics :-)

Engine reving to hard at height speeds will it break

No, for the record I don't fall for that... Having driven quite a lot in Germany I firmly believe that it's safe provided that the conditions are right and you're well aware of what's going on. What I have a problem with is the average driver in the UK, typically absolutely clueless. Poor...

Engine reving to hard at height speeds will it break

Regardless of whether your car can go 110 or 210mph, it's illegal for a reason. We have all done things we shouldn't do but if you're more concerned about the damage to your engine than the damage you could do to your (or other people's) lives then you really need to sort your priorities out.

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Thanks mate. Not sure what to do about the interior to be honest. Tempted by all white because of the cage but not convinced on how it will look on a Cup. Cage is about 35kg with all of the bars so probably 25 at the moment :-) really happy with the cage.

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Good man glad to hear it. Nope, this is my main car at the moment... I work from home a lot and if I have to go anywhere I take the train. Strange I've not seen you down the gym, do you take the Clio?

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Thankfully a mate was able to jump my car, it started first time so was definitely the battery and not the immobiliser or anything like that. No idea what caused it to fail either, going to pick up a jump-starter for the weekend, just incase!

Anyone on here from New Zealand?

I spent some time in New Zealand and didn't even see a Renault, let alone an RS Clio! You'll love it out there though, stunning country.

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Thanks! Well, every little counts I always think, plus there's a lot I don't need and for things like welding the cage in you have to weld it to bare metal and it doesn't really give you an option to keep the interior in!

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Yeah it's a real pain in the backside... need to get it fixed before the weekend, reluctant to buy a brand new battery as I've got the Varley race battery to go in! The track day is at Silverstone but it's a novice event but will be a good first outing I'm sure. The car doesn't really go very...

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Well I can forget all of that, tried to start the car today, battery completely flat and I have no idea why. If anyone is local to Basingstoke and fancies giving me a jump/bump I'd really appreciate it, so long as I can get to Halfrauds or something to get a battery charger/jump starter!

    low idle?

Would have thought it would be closer to 750 at idle time! Was the Polo a 3-cylinder?

Track car choices what would you choose

+1 but I am biased ;-) if I had the choice again I'd go ph1

PH1 172 'Back from the dead' build.

Good lad, looking forward to seeing more

    Unsilenced

Yes. It will be loud. My super sport + decat is loud enough! When I've got up early I've leapt off the drive pretty quickly ;-)

    Spacers on 2118s?

I'd like to see this too, I run ET43 2118's and got 10mm spacers ready to go on the back, bit concerned as it looks like there's no room at all (172 Cup)

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Things I need to do before Sunday's track day.. 1) Tidy cables and put cable shrouding around them (anyone know where I can get decent, good quality shrouding to protect the rear loom?) 2) Fit the tow strap, not sure how difficult this is going to be, got a TRS one. 3) Get the passenger seat...

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Unfortunately not got any pics of the inbetween then and now, but pics of what it currently looks like today, shame about recent weather - not had a chance to clean it properly... Cage, which needs stickers from previous owner removed and repainted in some areas as it really was a...

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

No expert in exhaust wrapping but the first attempt yielded this... was quite happy with the results! Although don't ever ask me to swap a manifold on a 172 ever again, was it worth it? Probably not, but every little helps ;-)

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

First came the wheel refurb... Then put on a few modifications/improvements... With the coilovers fitted, at the GF's house... The wheels didn't last long on the car, sold them on as they were in mint condition and bought these beauties...

The day I picked up the car, warning disgusting photos coming up... And the condition of the wheels! Shocking!

    rdoxenham's 172 Cup Track Project

Hi All, Been putting this off for a while, but thought I must get down to it, get some feedback from people. I bought a 172 Cup about 8 months ago to slowly turn into a track/race car project, it's also been serving as my daily until it's no longer road legal (me and the Mrs are saving for a...

What have you done to your car today ???

Spent two days in the wind and rain trying to fit my roll cage. Managed to weld half of it in before we gave up. NIGHTMARE

Dont even know how to describe this problem..
