yes. Just buy an engine, ECU, Loom and gearbox all together.
Personally I'd do a bit of work on the new engine while it's out too.
Replace tappets etc, could do bottom end bearings if have time
there is also a guide for removal of the gearbox iirc. Have a look through.

your main consideration IMO is the steering rack.
Leave it on the car and you don't need to worry about PAS hoses so the subframe can come right off.

I don't know how much a F7P 16v engine is where you are, over here they can be had for £200 or sometimes less. £250 including a gearbox is easy.

cummon, these were never a great idea were they. Those engines make naf all power and they are made from top quality cake and icing. I'd sooner go for a 20v although it is more expensive.
