Should be yeah. The code for the cat is probably due to the car running rich, that will flag a code because eventually it would be enough to damage the cat.

Yeah 100% It relays the readings to the ECU to allow for fuel corrections. You might notice a reduction in fuel/MPG too.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the sensor before the cat. Check the wiring, if that's not melted or anything then it's likely a dying sensor.

You could send it off to be retrimmed by someone like @snappy The original central band stitching was yellow.
