Yes, very much so. However much you like your car, you'd put common sense first. You would not put yourself out of pocket finacially when you pay insurance for this very reason.

Audi A6 Avant would offer more luxury then. Leather as standard, can have the Bang & Olfusen option, take the excellent performance and consumption of the 3L TDi with S tronic tranmission and sports differential would be an excellent mile muncher and also do the back road alpine roads for him.
Surely if he is covering all those miles and the need for room he'd purchase something like BMW 330 diesel touring. If he want to spec it up a bit he could go for the M sport package. Seems a bit silly to me.
