I was going to say, if its what ive said above, hole in exhaust has caused you to blow a lambda sensor (one of the two that plugs into the cat). Sounds likely.
Possible its from scraping the underneath on snow and getting snow in the vents in the footwells? Im not sure how the footwell vents work but know people have had issues with them before.

Neither my own car, or my work cars carpets are wet, and ive been in and out in foot deep snow since its been snowing.
Maybe you're making snowmen inside the car and theyre melting?
If so i wouldnt do this, you'll get wet...
