Re: E36 v2
Good progress Jord, good to see threads with loads of build pictures.
Re piston ring compressor, is there not another engine number that has wet liners? They make good compressors with a chamfer machined in. Them adjustable types can be a bit fiddly and nick rings at times.
You will be fine Oscar, it can be a daunting thought and your legs will be shaking like a s**tting dog until you get a few laps in. Its a 4hr OPL (open pit lane) so you can come and go in those 4 hrs. A good day to pop your cherry.
If you just stay aware and pull to the right if you see a...
As said gutted for you, hope you get out soon again.
I have had my old car snap/yaw like your video twice before bit I couldn't find anything wrong. I thought the brake pads fell out both times.
When you next out @.GAZ.
Nae good, come up anyway as there will be drop outs on the day. Half the cars are sheds on Knockhill days so problems are many.
I have 4.5 deg on I think @Gaz-m and I'm going to get it on the hunter machine tomorrow to clarify what I have been doing with the string...
@Gaz-m just book up and cancel it if you can't make it, at least you have the space. I have cancelled the night before and kept the credit in my account.
Thats my car ready other than changing a tyre. Looking forward to being there with all the clio's.
I found one more picture from track on Saturday, a better one showing the white wheels. I'm not a fan myself but there only for track.
Today I set about getting the car ready for this coming Saturday's track day.
Genuine filter fitted and some decent oil used.
I was getting knocking of...
I ran a fud hair off of 5 deg with my RSR's and still had tyre wear with sportlines fitted. Its inevatable with them tyres IMO, they have a sidewall that folds over.
This new car has coilovers and corners a lot flatter so I didn't think I would need as much. Yoko or the teams that run them say...
Outer shoulders on Yoko A048-r i.e not enough camber. I run 10min toe out but that won't cause this difference. It was circa 10 deg inside and circa 40 deg outside. Going for a lot more camber this weekend and see what happens.
Pete have you ever checked your front tyre temps? I had 3 deg neg at the weekend and the shoulders were boiling. First time I have checked with a temp gauge.
An hours labour most people would be charging to check. Its another hour or 2 to correct it properly cleaning all faces plus new cam plugs, exhaust cam nut, inlet cam bolt and crank bolt on top if done properly.
You can always measure the specs of the two bolts to re use or if you have a meg...
That's the Yoko's at that point, damping was full hard all day on the rear and I can't remember what I had on the front at that point tbh. I trail brake through Carlube sometimes for fun if that's what your speaking about. Its on rails in comparison to the last one though haha or just less of a...
For grabbing the tie rod It would need to be grub screws that went below the flush from memory in order to spin the tool, it would hit the subframe otherwise. I might be messing with mine tonight so I'll take a measurement for you.
32mm hex on oem tie rods but all the different makes differ in that measurement and also in the diameter of the ball joint housing which makes up the tie rod. No one answer I'm afraid. You need an adjustable tool or the 32mm crows foot or aircraft spanner.
A few rubbish pics and a video from the the TD on Sat, one more video to come when it uploads.
Fitted a sun strip in a rush on the morning of the TD to keep the low sun out the car.
A poor pic on track from my mate.
One from a local photographer on track.
The first video...
You don't need to be going any faster haha. Are you sure that one you have isn't a hybrid?
Hope you get something, I have speedo drive cup box sat here that you could have which wasn't crunching too bad when removed, I was doing the clutch so just swapped it out. The synchros would need done...
Aye his car was RR'd at circa 220bhp he said at Wallace Performance Aberdeen (pinch of salt)
Nah I wouldn't touch it either tbh. I think its the turinis and silver indicator bulbs that's giving it the pace, either that or the 100 s**t of NOS your running ;)
Have you ever played '52 card pick...
Good going. Like I said Gaz, the cars a freak. It kept up with two circa 200bhp cars (that one is 215bhp or so :S) when they're twos up.
What at milage does it have out of interest?
Aye I will be a busy boy for sure anyway.
Yeah I think I held onto the brakes a bit too long, I was experimenting with holding onto 4th until Mcintyres. I would usually get on the power a bit earlier but I was playing with damping and pressures all day so it wasn't the most predictable or...
Cheeky ;)
You down for the 8th John?
Looking good Frazjam, if I can't bring the car I might just come for a pax lap. Temptation will get the better of me though. Any spaces left without phoning them?
