Thank's for that, another bit to be buying from you's .
What's the range of movement (from min to max if you have the figures?) with your new strut mounting tabs? I like this as I can do camber changes while sat on the ground.
Just get the car up on some wooden blocks to give you an extra 3" or so then there's no need to turn wheels for access. I am also going to make the front bar mountable across the strut tops to hang two plum bobs for camber changes, doing this means you can drive the car after changes to settle...
I was just down that way at the weekend staying in the Feversham Arms Hotel, lovely place. The Helmsley to Thirsk road is epic, the winding 25% gradient is beyond good, the roads are a little bumpy in places mind you but still good.
The cup is looking good Chris, lucky escape with the rear...
That's what I'm away to make but out of powder coated white steel (cheaper than ally) with an adjuster to pull the strings taught and one that hooks in through the front grill.
That was on laguna hubs though right? Their steering arm is in a completely different place. Basically what I'm asking is; will it be worth while fitting to the cup racer suspension setup and also will it have the range of movement to rectify the bump steer on a lowered 172/182 which is...
Yeah I understand how it all works but the trigonometry goes straight over my head lol.
Can I go on the premise that on a 15" wheel then 7.5mm front to back difference is 1 deg toe out/in and on 16" wheel 3.55mm is 1 deg also.
I just bought the material to make a hanging rig for front and...
Theres no planning, I'll be there unless I get called away ;)
Away to do the suspension, brakes and get the materials for seat subframes and a custom tracking rig today.
So were saying 2mm is only 20 minutes? Sounds a lot but then I don't know.
I am away to source some ally rod today to make rigs for hanging of the front and back.
grazo22 have you done all your cars on the ground or have you rolled all four wheels onto small ramps. I'm thinking from being...
Andrew Clio has had them fitted for a good while, the kit was developed on his car. Lovely stuff.
Yeah the bump steer kit is new Mike, not sure how useful it's range of movement is on the 172/182 hubs. @pure-motorsport
I was like a swan going to pick it up, you never know when travelling to get cars but Jim seen me alright.
Aye I know, it needs polished off quickly so I can tinker with my other love.
Same here Steve its been donkeys years since I have been there.
Wouldn't mind throwing the cup up the strip a few times and tightening the hand brake and going on the skid pan :p
Keep up eh Sonny ;)
Thanks G.
Has anyone treated the side strips on a cup, it seems someone has tried to t-cut or use some aggressive polish on them when they are either a matt paint finish or just plastic. I'm looking for something to bring them back up before I try a machine buff and wreck them.
Cutting a little (10 to 30mm depending on what you like) off the gear selector rod to bring the gearstick back so you don't have to reach for 1st,3rd and 5th gear.
Indeed
Aye I can't fault them for cheap fun, they're one of best little hot hatches left that aren't totally covered in cancer, their only downfall is the seats and seating position.
So no3 is now in my possession, instead of carrying on Jim's thread I'll start a new one to document its progress and to keep the maintenance up to date.
I decided to buy another cup to keep me happy through the summer a good few weeks ago and a nice car came up at the right time in the shape...
Me too Chi, but it goes well as is really, it comes alive right up near redline. Yeah it 'should' need mapped but it really depends if there is anything wrong, the timing had been checked by a reliable source previously, its probably just the cam and ITB combo that's making it lack a bit bit...
Yeah its got cams, I have been told the belt was done in 2012 but I have no proof so I would rather just do it myself and paint the rocker cover at the same time. I like taking new cars to bits, I know its done then and I might find a few more ponies that should be there but aren't.
Just two...
Just a general tidy up Chi, do the belt, paint some mechanical bits, strip, rebuild and clean everything else so I know its up to my standards before I throw it around Knockhill on the 1st of March :D
I didn't mean that to come across the way it did Steve. I think that's the vBox's best feature, comparing against others laps like Adam does on TS it shows where you need baws and where to reel it in.
Gaz get yourself out in S&S's, I don't know of any other mk 2 clio's out, I think there's a...
