I think a lot of people went from the 5D to the 5D MK2 because of the HD video. Where as now, even though the 5D MK3 has the option of 60fps at 720p, you can get a 7D that does the same for a lot less.
You should cut it in half, then get a piece of pipe that has a slightly wider diameter, you can then use the wider piece as a sleeve that the two smaller ends go in to and then lock/clamp together some how... if you know what i mean.

Yes mate, Iron X before claying.... you want to remove as much of the surface contaminants as possible, before rubbing a clay bar across it.

This is what i do for a full detail: Snowfoam > Rinse > Wash 2 Bucket Method > Rinse > De-Tar > Rinse > Iron X > Rinse > Clay > Wash/Rinse > Dry > Polish > Snowfoam/Rinse to remove polish dust > Dry > Cleanse > Glaze > Seal
