Im running the cup racer Bilsteins front and rear proper solid coilovers. Like you say I will get used to it or drive around it, a little bit of lift off oversteer is nice for turning in or balancing mid corner so I will see if its to much. I tend to like a pointy car set up on the front end...
Another night at the lock up trying to knock more jobs of this never ending list.
After painting my calipers etc te other nigh gave them a chance to dry up.
Then after receiving my stud extractor tool as two nuts locked together would budge them.
I then fitted my caliper's, carriers...
I think I will go with one of the bleed screw sensors to start with and if it brakes run the other type, I don't like the sound of them on something that's going to get abused and a bit hot from time to time.
My car will have fixed damping aswell which gives me even less possibility for setup changes which I kinda like as its less things to play with, tyre pressure, camber, toe in/out should be enough to change handling, possibly a softer set of springs for when its a wash out weekend.
Cup racers...
Cheers for that Neil.
Lewis im not wanting to drill and tap the the housing unless there's a really thick part that can get a fair few threads in as I have heard of them leaking.
Yeah I forgot to say I don't want to have a mortgage on these seats and recaro racers at £1600 is more than I payed for the car lol.
Im looking at around £600 each
Sparco evo 2 don't have head protection and my seats that I have are the II's and don't fit so not every XL seat will suit...
Right I'm building a 172 to go racing with and I'm havin trouble to find seats that fit well. I'm 6ft 2" and 36" waist with wide shoulders.
My problem is I have no where near my house I.e demon tweeks or the likes to go and physically try seats out.
I have already had delivered 2x Sparco...
Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner
Car is awesome, love the colour. Fresh as, just how I like my road cars.
Few questions:
Do you have a link for the radiator? How do you find find fitment, does it fit standard hoses?
Is that the Omex race loom, also how do you find that? Did it allow to remove...
Also if you are using true coilovers with springs and shocks in one then on the back the kit supply's metal to box in lower shock pick up stopping the stress applied on the bolt.
I am trying to remove as much movement in any suspension component that I can as I will be using slicks, the strengthening kit firms up either end of the axle cutting down/stopping flex on the axle when lateral force is applied I.e cornering giving as close to the suspension geometry as you...
Looks like a good bit of kit, full 360 deg movement is what I'm after to change up camera positions.
My itb's turned up this morning to  Where did you fit your coolant sensor as I have heard there is one that can be fitted to a bleed plug to avoid drilling thermostat housing, also what...
Cant wait to see some footage myself, your into cameras right, what would you suggest for a good basic rollcage mount??
Storm kit looks like great quality, comes with everything including blanks for old wipers and a new run of washer tubing etc, It will be one of the final touches so could be a...
Some more small parts arrived including storm single wiper kit, go pro with lcd screen.
Some parts from the forum so thanks to who has supplied me so far.
Engine stands here, should start on stripping down next week if im still home and start the part rebuild.
And finally these should...
Right another small update, finally got the gas bottle for welding yesterday and set about fitting my Pure Motorsport axle strengthening kit and sperical bearings.
Axle just needs blasted and painted and powder coated when all the brake lines have been mocked up.
Well impressed with my new...
Fitted Pure Motorsport axle strengthening kit & spherical bearings. Cut guts out my last light to make cup racer blanks. Blasted, primed, painted and cleared front and rear calipers, calipers slides and stub axles.
And gave myself a massive t-shirt tan with the welder... F**K S**E
Yeah I agree but they look good lol, I'm a bit homosexual about the way I want it to look, got to keep telling myself it's a race car and function over form is the best attitude.
Lol at wispa, I hope I don't crash mine too bad as they seem really soft at the front and the back, the smallest of bumps and I have seen the boot floor crinkle like tinfoil. They are a lot heavier than other French s**t boxes but what NCAP rating are they, Renault are always chasing 5* in their...
Is that some sarcasm I sense.
I'm far from being a very good welder but I know enough to weld a cage in. Removing all the crash protection from bumper on ph2 removes the hanging points for the slam panel I don't no how the ph1 are mounted but I need some forward support and they seem quite...
Kenny I think the wire thickness was the problem I was having while tacking the cage in and it was a poorly maintained and bad quality welder also. Was having to turn amps right up and would blow through on a longer run.
0.8 is what will be used now.
What would you have done Tony, I needed it quickly removable to go on trailer and get into my lock up.
That's the best position I could find without the possibility of deforming the bumper shape, further apart would have been better i guess but its solid as is gives me place to mount reg plate...
I should have got the caddy really in hindsight but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I got a reel of 1mm with the welder, I was told that should be alright to weld my cage, I'm not upto speed with the technicalitys do you you think that will suit?
Yeah Kenny hopefully it's a good machine, should be alright being an ESAB, heard nothing but praise for them and parts are easily had.
I was looking at your machine aswell as the c160i caddy but I would have had to wait for the 200 caddy so I settled on this for the extra £50-£75 it cost me as I...
It's getting there, no just the catches and the side clips that hold it to wings. Iv made a small plate aswell that bolts to where the upper slam panel was so i can secure the grill after choping down for ITB's filter. Thats my thinking anyway.
Im going to get threaded bosses made up so the...
Another small update, I decided to cut the guts out the headlights to make cup racer esque blanks.
Turned out quite well, just need some paint.
Unsure of colour yet?? peoples thoughts would be good.
After being let down by 2 rental company's now I decided to just bite the bullet and get...
Re: Namakubi Clio 172 Cup "track project"
Nice so far, what kind of catch tank is that and what have you done with the crankcase breather? I have been told that outlet from the rocker cover that you have feeding to catch tank can be left open, no oil comes out???
