No need to take the dash out mate. Under the driver and passenger seats there will be a little connector, either give it a wiggle or cut out the connectors and solder the wires direct. That should sort your problem.

Also, taking pics from such a low angle makes it look higher than it actually is. The trims look alright, I had some halfords ones on my 1.2 for my first year because of insurance, just had to live with it until i got my 1 years ncb and put on my alloys. Oh, and get rid of the wheel-whores...
