I think that's exactly right mate. I've always used premiere pro, so am comfortable with it.

Read the stickies at the top mate, they're massively helpful for understanding exposure and how shutter speed/aperture/ISO all work together. I spent my lunch break learning about flashes today as I really don't have a clue! Going to buy another one next month I think as well as some receivers...

At a guess you'll be shooting at either too low or high F number mate. I try to stick between f/8 and f/12 for night stuff now, works for me!

Nice to see someone else editing with Adobe products! After Effects is incredible, I've never really managed to get my head around it though.

I'd look at maybe getting a one trick pony lens like an 18-200 mate, and just sticking it on the D40. IMO it's really the only way you're going to get an SLR to cover most situations if you're only planning on taking one lens.

F355 was the last 'pretty' Ferrari imo. From the rear it's just stunning. The 550 never has done anything for me.
