Thanks. Looks like the wheels/tyres will go in without the bodywork looking chopped to death/s**te anyway, just need to sort out something with the front bumper to stop it getting ripped off.

Yep, very big wheels/tyres! They'd be about the rough equivalent of a 265/70 R16 road tyre, and a 235/70 R16 up front.

Now I like that with the extended rear arches/bumper, still need to be bigger at the rear though, the back will be on biiiig wheels - 31" tall with the rally tyres. Looks like it might work out looking okay anyway! Next question, anyone got a 3D model of a 197? :D

Thanks, back arch still needs to be bigger though, anyone have a go at widening the arches by 2-3 inches? Just trying to get an idea of what the car'll look like...see if it looks daft or not on big rally wheels and wide arches. This was what I got after 10 minutes with paint lifting the...

...with some conditions, the top of the arch needs to be lifted up to the red line, and encircle the green....:D I tried in paint, failed miserably to make it look like anything other than some cardboard boxes stuck on the sides, some whiz in PS want to try their hand? Photo to alter nicked...

At 200bhp? Might get a couple of bhp from the engine and transmission combined. A second a lap? Not a bloody hope.

^At that event, the engine started becoming hard to start, then it lost more compression, then it started loosing more and more power, until we finished the day towing the thing to bump start it and limping around hoping like hell we didn't stall the car. Managed to sneak it around to finish...

Fixed.

Sorry, I know it's probably been asked somewhere before, but could someone point me towards a cheap wide arch kit + panels, or even the full fibre-glass clamshells that the Norway Ice-racers use if anyone knows where they're sourced from? After them either in 197 or 200 shape, not all that...

^Best price I got for an engine plus a full rebuild was 2.5K. And a full P-port and throttle bodies taht'd give 400 N/A wouldn't give a broad enough torque spread for this work, the Renesis has a massive advantage there, plus the diamond coated tips don't suffer anywhere near the wear... ;)

Picked the renesis as most RX7 lumps these days need a serious rebuild before they even go in, it's a budget car, 3k rebuild plus porting on top and a s**t powerband vs 1k for a spanking new engine and a flat torque curve from 3k to 9k seemed a no-brainer :D
