For most people's sake what components do you mean? I would assume track rods/ends and rack mounts or you mean the lot!? (Rack, column and track rods/ends ).
Cliospares sell them on eBay for £50 with 3 month warranty, I did mine last month and its not too bad a job if you take the slam panel and grill out you have much better access. Good excuse for a new aux belt/tensioner anyway!
Disconnected and reconnected battery got the central locking working but now can't get alarm to stop flashing hazards, no matter what I do ( lock / unlock etc )?
One problem after another with my 172 lately, by far the most unreliable and temperamental car I've ever had the displeasure of owning, and this is the standard one!
so after my recent alternator failure which drained the battery I had it off the car and on bench charge all week. Refitted today...
I go every month, make sure your there before 8pm otherwise you'll struggle to park in the actual venue ( tiny car park and terrible parking arrangements ).
its a good night and food is fantastic but once you've seen the 30+ cars its abit boring!
Hopefully Cliospares will deliver a working unit, I've had a PS pump off them before at dirt cheap prices and it worked a treat so fingers crossed.
Daniel I may take my old knackered unit for a rebuild and keep as a spare, certainly cheaper than all this BS should my replacement fail! Renaults...
Just a quick rant cos im pissed and need to vent.
172 broke down saturday with alternator failure costing me a hefty recovery home from Cadwell Park ( £440 ). Ordered a new Lucas unit from EuroCarParts for £200. Finally turned up Wednesday evening and today matched it up with old unit...
Ph1s ( 2000-early 2002 ) or 172 Cups have a sensor on the back of the box to the right of the manifold as you look down on it. All other models take it off the abs sensor, i think its the N/S.
Adam I usually do half hour tuition at each day anyway but I'm not after blistering performance or whether I can keep up with 'that Elise' and such, just so long as it can put a smile on my face and keep up with my ambitious driving.
im looking at a rear ARB and a wheel then I reckon.
Not at all, just never indulged in mk2 modifying before, wondered what everyones recommendations are instead of spunking it on pointless stuff! ( 4 pots for example ).
Spec added I forgot about the uprated engine mounts lol!
everyone says that but I thought the brakes, although up to the job, were the first place improvements could be made. Perhaps it's because I'm coming a 197 though... I'm currently running the RC5 and was quite impressed with them...
I know there are many threads on this but every situation is different :p
After the 197 let me down last week I ended up taking my daily 172 to Cadwell park and thought with standard road setup items it would be a waste of time, as it turns out even in standard form the mk2s are massively...
Lol sorry I get ahead of myself :( it's the ph1 172.
misses converted 182 is lower than mine and runs ktec poverty spec coilovers, never had an issue. Picture above is identical to the problem. Is it structurally sound to trim that part of the body out?
Now my cars been lowered but certainly not a great deal more than some of the clios i see on here, but on track yesterday i was getting heavy knocks on the tight bends. After a quick look underneath it seems my driveshafts are hitting the chassis arm just above where they sit, and consequently...
Pedal is rock solid with engine off and goes softer when started, but not soggy. It seems to me the feel is okay just the amount of travel for braking force is too long, the brakes just don't react.
Fred yes it's running ITBs, has done two trackdays with that setup and been fine but I do know...
My money was on the fluid too but I managed to get round all four calipers a couple times each with the 500ml and didn't see any air plus the pedal is solid with the engine off. It is 660 but had a full flush mid December for the last trackday. Certainly didn't overheat the brakes then either.
Ah bad times! Got a track day tomorrow morning so got the 197 out last night for a clean and once over, it's been sitting in the garage for approx. a month and a half unattended.
During the drive to the jetwash I noticed the brakes were very poor, almost zero bite and on a damp road emergency...
Gotta change the PS pump on the 172 Monday, I have gallons of ATF at work but would have to buy specific power steering fluid. Always used ATF in steering systems in the past so will this be okay for the clio as well?
Or does it require a certain type?
Any play in the bearing? Can only be a bearing/disc issue if you can replicate the noise by rotating just that wheel by hand. Make sure the caliper isn't housing any debris or stones etc and the pads are clean and greased. Other than that the abs ring knocking on the sensor due to damage or...
