    my vw over heated after i changed the water pump, thought i bled the system through, left it running for a good half hour came back needle was on red and the dash was flashing and beeping. luckily it was ok.

    Reg-plate screw-holes on the boot?

    tbh they dont really rust,i removed a original plate from a 2001 clio which was screwed through the boot and there wasnt really fek all there.
