K&N get a lot of stick for no reason, they just have a large number of universal products that get put onto to absoloute heaps. The Typhoons are normally cheaper than this though and are probably made of better materials too tbh

Can be done retaining the catch, but without measuring it'd restrict the size of the filter you'd be able to use. Function over form.
