Buying a Clio to eat up motorway miles - 172 LPG vs DCi

Admittedly they're not as quiet as a big rep mobile but I really didn't find my 172 with its standard or powerflow exhaust annoying sat at 70-90 on the motorway. I didn't feel I had to have the stereo on full whack to hear it... Same with my 182 with an RS192 and K-tax induction. And believe me...

Buying a Clio to eat up motorway miles - 172 LPG vs DCi

Unless you've got a silly loud exhaust I don't see how 4000rpm is much of an issue myself. I've travelled thousands of miles around europe in mine and always found it comfy.

Re: SUPER 1600 REPLICA based on 172, CLIO WILLIAMS Tribute, CLIO WILLIAMS IV (Austra Looks smart that. Plenty of effort gone into it.

Buying a Clio to eat up motorway miles - 172 LPG vs DCi

I've never had a problem driving on motorways with either of mine. Can't be any worse than the Rover that's for sure!

blowing exhaust= how much hp loss

I was actually looking at the 0-100 rather than the lap times re the BMW. I've no doubt that the big Mercs torque helps their performance but at the other end of the scale you could have an F1 car with big HP, high revs and appropriate gearing with little torque and they're still very quick...

blowing exhaust= how much hp loss

Come on lol... The stats don't stack up there, nowhere near. http://fastestlaps.com/cars/renault_clio_182.html http://fastestlaps.com/cars/bmw_120d_edition_sport.html I had a blast with a 325d coupe (3l) a few years ago and had no issue getting away from it. People get far to hung up on all...

Buying a Clio to eat up motorway miles - 172 LPG vs DCi

The one the OP posted says it's LPG although I'd want to double check that with the seller 1st. I've also seen a few other over the years...

Work On The Bean Before CSS13

Looks nice and clean:). I think people go for these to do the lights. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-Head-light-Lens-Restoration-System-for-Plastic-lenses-/271194531460?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f24742684

Buying a Clio to eat up motorway miles - 172 LPG vs DCi

Not if he gets one with it already done.. Saying that though he should see 40mpg+ driven like his Rover at 70 so wouldn't be overly bothered about getting one without if it was in better condition than the one with.

Well after a few blasts with my brothers 170 (and another vrs) I beg to differ tbh.

blowing exhaust= how much hp loss

All you've proved is you're a better driver. A healthy Clio driven by anyone with half a brain should be quicker than said tdi on a dual carriageway.

blowing exhaust= how much hp loss

Flol what a load of rubbish... My brothers 170 Octavia couldn't keep up with my old 172 so a fail to see how a 130/150 Bora will!

blowing exhaust= how much hp loss

Because no standard Bora tdi should be able to keep up with a healthy 1*2 maybe?

    172 Cup > 182 FF

Why don't you use it though? I find it strange that people that have it don't use it. Especially with CC so you don't even have to press a button to turn it on.

    Cooksports or sportlines

Agreed. I now have this car with the Cooksports and had Sportlines on my old ph2. Very similar when gunning it but as above when driving normally.

Nice juicy nail in tyre - game over?

According to this and looking at my tyres (the same) I don't think that'll be repairable. Bit of a shame on such a new tyre though:(. http://www.etyres.co.uk/images/etyres-tread-gauge.pdf
