As for inner tie rods you want FirstLine FTR5277, they for a kangoo van but they are a pretty close fit, think they 5mm longer. Can get them about £18 each.
Like I said; mine clicks but not looking into it as my inner tie rods need changing so once they done and if the problem is still there will look into it.
As said above though, about the pinch bolts is taking more force as it's turning the column not the actual rack seems a good possible...

This is true. Just not everyone are in a position to have their car off the road whilst your box is being rebuilt.
On the other hand; you could buy a second hand box and send that of to be rebuilt
If it's a 172 cup box you will need to blank the speedo drive but I can guarantee of you buy a second hand box it don't be out of a cup. So then no modifications
Does anyone else think the location of the oil filter is stupid. The fact it is tilted backwards so pours all it's contents over the block whilst you undoing it ?
