for the track they wont be great, they have a soft spring rate. they are more a stance boy coilover, if you dont care about scrubbing and performance, just looks.
Not in the slightest, the ITB'd car will make it's 230 bhp at something like 8250 rpm, the turbo car will be making 230bhp at probably 5.5k-6k rpm and have +50% more torque, the perfect scenario of power for exiting corners fast. imo thats also the reason itb cars are more known for being...
I run GAZ GHA full coilovers on my 182, and i was able to carry better speeds through corners at brands that my friends 182 on bilstein b14's , they were to soft, the corner of his front bumper was almost touching the floor with the body sway, he has std b14 spring rates (not sure what they are)...
You need to get rid of the standard exhaust mount rubber mate, and polybush it so you can drill holes and get the hangers to sit higher in the squares and sit flush
i think there is definitely some debate to be had over the reliability of itb's vs low boost turbo setup, as for noise though itb's dont even come close to turbo for me, the turbo surge in the cabin under acceleration and wastegate chatter are so awesome its hard to stay off the throttle :P
I wish i had such a healthy budget for a new car, op would you consider getting something a little older with miles for the same budget? Something like an evo 9 or a mint e46 m3? You get alot more for your money.
The only time i ever really consider clio's is when they are at 1*2 prices lol...
BC Coilovers look great build quality, but really baffled by their standard spring rate choices though, 8kg rear and 4kg front is ridiculous, if anything you want a stronger spring rate front and a lesser spring rate rear for handling on clios and the 50% variance is not great, 4kg front is way...
Had 5 rs clios, on my 2nd turbo. I personally wouldn't turbo a strict track car that's going to sit doing nothing in a garage for 3,4 months at a time, things seizing up and then the only daylight it see's is getting hammered on the track, a friend of mine had a fully forged evo with 500 bhp...
On my 2nd turbo Clio, current one is the ED 230 kit , first one was much higher boost. Despite what people say stock clutch is not good enough, not a good enough bite and will eat it in no time.
Obviously the vmax coils not doing the trick, I wouldn't say you were ridiculously low in fact I think it sits perfect , but if your scrubbing when the cars leaning hard into the corners the spring rates are probably to soft on that coilover for the ride height. a coilover with adjustable...
I wouldnt take that for gospel, e46 m3's get consistantly faster times than clio's around the Nurburgring, and if you've ever seen an m3 at the track you can see they are capable of carrying much higher speeds round corners than Clio's. I would say my low boost clio is on par with an e46 m3 and...
Alot of things in the clio aftermarket are pretty good in price comparison to other car manufacturers aftermarkets, for instance Spoon wanted £3,200 for a titanium catback exhaust for my s2k which would probably yield 5bhp +/- and some weight savings, i turbo'd my clio for far less than that...
In regards to how quick these actually are, im on my second boosted clio now (current one is a low boost 230bhp) and my first one was a ph1 which chip-mk1 now owns built by james and mike at stone (guys who made the rs2) which was 260bhp and honestly, there is no real world difference in speed...
