Getting a quote is all well and good but it'll probably be more than the car is worth to fix that back to mint.
Break it for parts. Buy another one.
Get it serviced and put a new battery in the key and keep it.
Better the devil you know.
If you're feeling really flush get it sprayed and get rid of the awful interior ;)
Have you got an eBay shop?
A well designed shop with your main URL on it, although not allowed by eBay, but if you don't spam if they don't usually mind, will drive traffic to it.
It's not just about the difference in speed. It takes a lot longer to get to dangerous speeds in a 1.2. Your "If you're gonna crash you're gonna crash" is complete rubbish really.
And T1Rs aren't budget tyres.

2k on insurance is mental. It's not just the insurance but the other associated costs that rise with a more expensive car. Next time your mates are out smashing birds on a Friday night you'll be sat at home because you need to save for the 72k service.
