I agree sony are generally simple, extremly easy to use and dont look too flashy untill now. Unfortunalty the 2003 sony range just looks a bit ugly. Have a look around for a CDX8000, its a couple of years old now. It was my favorite but didnt have the cash to but it new ,I wish I had now :(
Do you find some days its quicker than others. Well I suppose it depends on your mood that day, for example after one has cleaned their car, they feel happy therefore the car runs well. Weird world
Have a look at the Blaupunkt range there are some simple ones there. I have the same problem as you, there seem to no good looking headunits without all that flashy stuff!!!!
Sorry this is all that I could come up with, but woth a look...
I was browsing through the clio brochure and saw the option packs available for the dynamique range. I noticed that the picture of the CD-changer was made by Alpine.
Is this correct?
Can other HUs interface with it easily?
Thats the one, its not the same as the Cup splitter but its the same principle.

Get some new wipers but also clean your windscreen and wipers regular, nearly every day. Use Autoggym Fast Glass or something similar. This will look as if the windscreen has been waxed and hopefully the rain "should" just fall/roll off. Unfortunatly cleaning your windscreen every day is a bore...
Thats mad, the adapter for the sony headunits is about £10-£20. Go to an ICE specialist shop, or is that where you got the £55 quote.
Good Luck and let us know if you get any luck.
The Wonder Wheels tyre dressing is pretty poor and very messy, I tend to use the Turtle Wet Look. Easy, clean but it doesnt last longer than about 5 days depending on how much one drives. Also they last longer in the summer as theres no water about.
Have you tried the Industrial Autoglym that...
I like those silver door inserts along with the 172 handles, nice touch! Hold on are they standard on the Mk1 172?

I love them, did they have the 17" alloys same style that audi have on the TT and RS4 or were they the chunky 6 spoke 16"s, either way its a very well made car and has got plenty of room inside. If I was starting a family I would get one over a A-Class by far. 9/10
Are they any of these:

Have you looked around to see if OZ are making the Focus RS wheels in 17"
I know that the OZ Chrono Evolution are very light:
