I just used Auto Glym tar remover when I removed my Renault Sport badge, I pulled the top of the badge towards me and poured a load down the back until it came off, then I used some more to wipe the crap off the back and job done. No heat or hairdryer needed at all.

Depends which is cheaper tbh, if it wasn't broke before throwing cold water on it will have finished it off. So it's been nicked?

Everything i've removed from my car was either for upgrading mods, or removing the rear interior to dog proof the back, a happy coincidence is it's saves a fair bit of weight. The only extra bit i've got is a spare starter motor.
