If you work the SRP until it is almost gone it removes the danger of it dusting.

SRP will give maybe 30 days protection, a coat of EGP should be good for 90 Days.

The dock apple sells has a 3.5mm jack plug output and a remote control. I just use the laptop and play the music wirelessly to an airport extreme via itunes which is plugged into to my amp on my seperates.

Unfortunatley it will only get worse as water gets under it, and if you machine polish it you run the risk of making it flake of and spread further. Some clear lacquer from a touch up stick may stop it peeling back even worse till you get a chance to get it painted.
