i got a chip in the drivers side window from somebody trying to break in, but instead ran when the alarm went off. Glad i installed it now.

you need to set the I.P address settings on your computer to match those on the router.
or change them all to automatic.
Did you use the wireless wizard in controll panel to set up your connection? (assuming your running xp)
pop down to Kwick fit, they may let you have one that had been changed for a new one on somebody elses car for a couple of £'s. (if they have any of course)

I reccomend you try a new battery first. I had the exact problem you describe.
Turns out the immobiliser system in clios is very voltage/current sensitve and the battery simply discharged alittle too much over your 12 hour shift.
Replace your car battery, and im almost sure it...
thats not it. the immobiliser de-activates when the key is turned and the ring picks up a transponder signal from the key, not when the button on the key is pressed. thats for the central locking and alarms.
you could take the battery out of the key and still start the car.
