The next stage was to degrease everything and a steam clean.
Once everything was clean and shite free, they inspected underneath for any especially rough areas. We are solid underneath thanks to @Gally and his team at Protek, so it was straight onto rust conversion for any surface...
Righto, update time again.
I picked the car up from Preserve and Protect in Glasgow on Saturday morning. It was another red hot day and the car performed faultlessly on the drive home. So that was around 250miles since pulling it out of storage and it was spot on.
Here are the pics from...
As above, use either the chassis rails or bolt 8.
I usually Jack on bolt 8 and then place the jackstands on the rails.
My brother has a 1.2 mk2 Clio and we put the Jack stands in between number 3 and 4 on that diagram because we couldn’t be arsed to move the car. The front of the sub frame...
I remember a post on his Pistonheads thread a while back about the persona.
He mentioned that he did the Millie Miglia in an XK120 with the Jag Heritage fleet and loved it. A real dream come true type experience for him. He posted the video and it tanked in views and half the comments were the...
Should be picking up the car Fri/Sat so once it's back, I'll take some pics and fire them over for you. Bloody happy with it. Love how it fits into the old seat fixing points, really tidy installation!
Bought mine in March 2020, so just over two years. Absolutely love it but need to spend more time driving and less time faffing around with it. A total 400 miles since the last MOT in October
He we go.
This is the white plastic female clip that bolts to the floor. Should be at the base of the gear stick, sort of inline with the front of the front seats.
This is the male connecter that is on the inside of the gearstick/lower center console plastic. It should just slot right in and...
As above! Sort the shed for a Halfords top chest. Normally on sale or nick a mates trade card.
Bought one last year and it swallows up all my tools plus torque wrenches etc. Cant recommend it enough for the price.
Made it to Preserve and Protect this morning for about half ten. The car ran spot on for the hundred miles or so we covered.
The EML light came on during the last 20 mins though after nigh on 60 miles of motorway. It seems to be a common thing for my car at least. After a stint of driving at...
There’s a black square clip that mounts to the floor near at the front of the gear stick. I’ll grab a pic of the bracket once I’m home as I’ve got a spare one kicking about.
ive just stuck a bit of Velcro on it and it’s spot on.
Are you talking about the sides of the lower dash that are each side of the radio/heater controls etc?
I think they are just meant to be fixed in place from the factory. Unless someone has pulled on them and knackered the plastic fixing. Your best bet would be to fix them back on with something...
So, we moved unit a while back. Just over the road but the new place has a 2 post lift and a bit of extra space. I finally pulled the Clio out today as it’s off to Glasgow tomorrow for undersealing,
The chap who owns the unit has an incredible collection of cars - 996 GT2, 430 Scud, 106 Raylle...
It seems almost everyone with a low mileage/minter is selling at the moment.
If you had the money to spend big on a clean Clio, you can afford to be picky just now. Various LY, RB, 172 Cups & Trophies have been for sale/sold in the last few months. It makes a £10k PB with no history seem a...
The orange DCI on the Williams wheels just looks so right.
Fingers crossed the Blue one gets up and running soon. At least you caught the alternator before it inevitably blew up.
Nothing major then, glad to hear it!
Was it the lower manifold gasket? I swapped mine last year when changing a few bits and it was a right pain to line up
Ouch, sorry to hear that mate. Glad it's not been written off though!
How on earth did your bodyshop find arch liners? One side is NLA and nigh on impossible to source?!
This.
Knocked a hole in my sump last year on my daily. Couldn’t be arsed fixing it again so punted on marketplace to a chap who is fairly local. He patched the hole in the sump with JB weld and it’s still running 6m on.
There's one of these near the unit I rent and it looks like it's been dumped/abandoned.
I was tempted to find out who owns it, but after reading the last few posts here, I'll give it a miss:ROFLMAO:
Top work though, some of those bills look hideous.
Cheers chaps.
I'll give Rentec a shout when the car goes for in for its MOT in the summer.
I never thought about Timpsons, but will give them a shout if Rentec can't do anything for me.
Congrats on the purchase fella.
A tidy silver 182/172 is extremely underrated imho. Some of my favourite 182's on here are silver (Mr Blonde and Cfab's motor)
Has anyone managed to get Renault or an indy to re-code a key for them, or even sort a new key out?
One of my keys died last month and won't activate the central locking BUT it will still start the car etc. The red light doesn't flash on the fob even after a battery change.
Thankfully the...
Managed to get this in the storage unit today. It was a little hairy with the snow and ice but it never missed a beat on the 50 mile or so drive over.
Took a couple of 7am fuel stop pics.
Got it hooked up to the battery conditioner but found the ‘comfort clips’ which bolt straight on to the...
I pinched this from @Louis build thread, but here are the sizes for the Jubilee/hose clips for the cooling system.
JCS HIGRIP
Pack QTY: Pack of 4, Material Spec: W4 - Stainless Steel, Clip Size: 17-25mm (0X)
Pack QTY: Pack of 10, Material Spec: W4 - Stainless Steel, Clip Size: 25-35mm (1)...
Thank you very much mate (y)
yeah, it makes sense to change the rad, hoses etc while you’ve got the coolant drained. My rad was knackered anyway so it’s worth doing if you have the funds.
The MTC hoses have been great so far. A few boys on here run them and there’s no complaints. For the...
I did indeed (y)
I did it on my drive over the course of a weekend (as well as doing other jobs), but you could probably do it in a morning if you know what you’re doing and don’t stop for endless cups of tea.
Honestly, it wasn’t too bad, the worst bit is trying to squeeze it in between the...
