I already have A/C and always have but it's stopped working since I fitted climate control. I guess the signal wire is different between climate and not.

That sounds like the gearbox starting to go. Had the same noise on my lupo for about 5k before it went bad.

Filled it up with fuel for the second time this week. Took delivery of a new rad, coolant, turbo and a few other bits. Tried to get the A/C working but failed again.

The sport spoiler is metal instead of the other stuff the cup one is made from.

My battery light came on the other day. Alternator was fried, smoking like a nut. Jump start it. Let it run connected for a bit. Take off the leads and test the voltage over the battery. If it's just 12v the alternator is dead. I'd expect closer to 14v if the alternator is working.
