I do have an ultrasonic cleaner but I’ve ordered some zinc plated bolts which I’ll use so long as they fit correctly. The cleaner is great but I quite fancy some newness in there!
I bought an upgraded engine mount- the one that’s very obvious at the driver’s side of the engine. But my current manky one has horrible bolts- does anyone know the spec of them so I can order some sparkly new ones? The four in this picture:
Like everything I do with cars, this mini job hasn’t gone 100% to plan…
I fitted the Sabelt steering wheel and QR, pretty straightforward, disconnect the battery, wait a bit, unclip the airbag etc. my large torx bolt on the steering rack wasn’t a T40, but a T45, other than that ok.
But when I...

Thanks for that clarification- The trouble now is I’ll have to look out my ancient car mags to see what the hell I did read! Like you say, great seats though.
Love it! Will be following your progress.
One random thing I remember about the williams from back in the 90’s was that the development team reckoned the seats were worth time over a particular road, because of how much better they held you in place than the Clio 16v seats. You probably all...
Major progress on the little Cup.
With every kind of job to do I prioritised to the most critical stuff by fitting an Alpine head unit. It’s a Bluetooth CarPlay thing, have set the display and keys to Amber and switched off the annoying beeps.
Next, an actual priority, I set off a can of...
Wow that shows the difference very clearly! I saw some for £78 on eBay and thought about it, but the genuine ones might be something I do at the end of any work. Probably when they’re £178!!
I used a permanent red sharpie. It’s not perfect, but it wasn’t before, and it’s so much better.
I’d say it’s pretty close to that territory. But I specifically wanted a cheap ac’d cup that I could work on. At some point it’s going to have to have some bodywork (ok, all the bodywork) to handle...
It’s good to be a car weirdo. All the “normal” people must be weird in another way, which has to be worse!
I’ve been there with the birdshit thing. How’s this for depth and impact?
Got a little bit more done. From:

Got these on:
I forgot- headlights are fresh!
the picture flatters it, but not bad. I love cups. It does need the Turinis in bright silver though. And the door shut,
Say goodbye to the very special 1.2 Clio alloys and the very very special “three-a” tyres. Who does that to a car like a 172 cup? Absolute madness.
Eibach springs fitted, at least at the back. Hard to tell at the front
Absolutely shagged sills. Again, who does this?? You have to have s**t...
Clio is back from Two Techs. Belts, phaser, waterpump, oil service, 2 front wheel bearings and a fixed bonnet release. A couple of other bits done by them, great place, very happy. The headlights are being polished this afternoon and I will make an attempt at getting the Sabelt wheel on. Maybe...
