I would imagine the standard V6 has to be the best clio chassis/v6 engine combo possible. If putting the engine up front was better/possible, wouldn't renault have done it?
It's all about fuel/air ratio. You get the best power with a certain ratio. If you intake cold air, it is more dense and so you're effectively taking in more air quickly. If you're taking in more air then you can burn more fuel with it to maintain the air/fuel ratio. More fuel you burn, the...
I'm getting a new standard back box put on on saturday. I want to keep it standard for resale/insurance purposes and I figure if I keep my 172 another 2 years then a standard one will last that long anyway.
I forgot to mention, I think this is the first fault with the exhaust. (I've owned it since a year old and 16k miles) I think that's nay too bad considering it's 3 1/2 years old and has covered 49k miles.
The back box is partially hanging away from the section of exhaust immediately before it. I've got it booked in for Saturday. £210 for supply and fit new back box.
...my exhaust that is! Pulled up at a roundabout this morning and heard a bad boy exhaust coming from the rear. I had a look round to see what was about to pull up and then realised I was all alone at this roundabout! My exhaust is fooked! It blows quite badly below 2500rpm. Got to work...
IMO if a you're buying a 3 year old 172 and it's only done 15k or something, how do you think it's going to have been driven? It's going to have been ragged the f**k out of at weekends. So there's pluses and minuses to high and low miles.
I'm undecided about putting stripes on after buying a non-special edition. But I would never, never take the stripes off if they were on there from manufacture. (as is the case with your gf's car)
Please pay attention!
Are we learning yet that it is absolutely pointless spending any money on doing major mods to a 172?! With the money spent on this car they could actually have real V6 ffs! Such a waste of money. Save your pennies and buy a better car!
(I do not disapprove of minor...
If there's anyone I hate more than the Popular Judean's Front, it the Popular People's Front of Judea.
(not the exact right words but you get what I'm getting at! :D )
Dunno what it stands for but it was the old equivilent of what is now the Dynamique range. Bit sporty, some gadgets, not as expensive fast or posh as the renaultsport range.
Did I just call my car posh? Surely there's a better word... fancy.
I don't particularly like it. I just accept it as one of the comprimises I make in owning the car. I have the steering wheel angled fully upwards so I can fit my legs under. But then I have to have my seat back fairly straight up in order to reach the top of the steering wheel properly, and...
Car is over 3 years old, trim is only guaranteed for the first one or two years I think. Apparently getting these steering wheel replaced under warranty is like getting blood out of a stone. The just argue it's down to wear and tear despite sheer numbers proving it's clearly poor design or...
I'm pretty sure people who have changed either the air filter element or even fitted a closed induction kit, have said it makes little or no difference to performance on a 172. The only real change is to the induction noise.
Hello guys, have any of you actually spoken to a Renault parts desk and asked how much a new 172 steering wheel is? Because I have...

So like someone else said, I'd leave it, drop your price by a couple of hundred and maybe leave yourself room to allow for haggling another couple of...
I got a renault bodykit sprayed and fitted, plus the black rub strips down each side sprayed by a place in Trafford Park called car cosmetics. That was on a 5-door megane in the two tone silver with the blue tinge to it. Cost me £600. Fitting of the bodykit was an average job, but the...
I'm waiting for megane 225 prices to drop some more. I'll probably get one of those and pay the difference with cash saved up. Can't borrow any more money till I've bought a house.
When I've got a house I want to get something I'm not going to be able to easily improve on, like the current...

I'd say expanding your budget from £11k to a minimum of £15k isn't really a "stretching", more paying half again. Don't be confused, there really is a big difference in price between the mk1 and mk2.
